The Downtown Mesa Merchants’ 2nd Friday event is getting its game on — and you can, too.
There will be a vintage video game contest throughout the evening at Main Street’s monthly block party, with no entry fee and cool prizes for high scores.
In addition, live bands will be heating up the night, with shops and restaurants staying open late.
MyNewsMesa reports the Arizona Museum of Natural History will host a Pokemon Go party with lures and other perks for Pokemon trainers, and also points out some other Pokemon hotspots around town.
Downtown artisans will also benefit from the Pokemon Go frenzy, with dozens of Pokestops and several Gyms nearby and local businesses dropping lures all night to bring out the virtual beasties — according to a flier posted The Minibosses, the Valley-based “Nintendocore” band fresh off their recent Game On Expo appearance who will be playing an all-ages after-party at The Nile.
Ah, memories: Just four years ago I was at the sweltering 2nd Friday “NerdvanaCon” celebrating this site’s fifth anniversary.
