Disney finally has released a teaser trailer for Moana, the animated Oceanic adventure we’ll be getting at Thanksgiving starring Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson as the Pacific demigod Maui and introducing Auli’i Cravalho as the title character.

Walt Disney Animation Studios’ latest is about an adventurous teenager who, aided by the once-powerful Maui, sets out on a daring mission to prove herself a master wayfinder and save her people.

If Disney ever teamed up with (or bought) Nintendo, and adapted The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker for the big screen, Moana is pretty much what it would look like … in a word: beautiful.

Disney's MoanaDisney's MoanaMoana directors Ron Clements and John Musker made their writing-directing debut with 1986’s The Great Mouse Detective. They went on to write and direct 1989’s The Little Mermaid, 1992’s Aladdin, 1997’s Hercules and 2009’s The Princess and the Frog.

The film’s music was contributed by recent Tony-winner for Hamilton Lin-Manuel Miranda as well as Grammy-winning composer Mark Mancina, who worked on Disney’s Tarzan and The Lion King, and Opetaia Foa’i, the founder and lead singer of the award-winning “South Pacific Fusion” band Te Vaka.

What do you think of this first look at Moana? Put another way: In this case, does “aloha” mean hello, or goodbye?
