‘Pokémon: Detective Pikachu’ movie review

Classic Dungeons & Dragons back in print! - Available now @ Dungeon Masters Guild

The cop Pokémon buddy movie you need

By J Russell

PHOENIX – Calling all Pokemasters to see Pokémon: Detective Pikachu this weekend.

Ryan Reynolds stars in the live-action Pokémon adventure as Pikachu.

The story begins when ace detective Harry Goodman goes mysteriously missing, prompting his 21-year-old son Tim (Justice Smith) to find out what happened.

The film takes place in Ryme City where Pokémon and people live together. It’s also a place where you’re not allowed to catch Pokémon. Guess you’re not able to catch them all inside the city, but in the wild is where you can show off your Poké Ball skills.

There are plenty of easter eggs that only true fans will only understand, including a “Team Rocket” cameo, but you’ll have to look closely.

You’ll see Pokémon evolve, Poké Balls thrown, and jokes only Pokémon fans will understand plus a pretty sick Pokémon battle.

The funniest part is when Mr. Mime comes onto the big screen. Without saying a word he’s pure comedy. It’s wholesome silly, fun that the whole family can enjoy.

Pokémon: Detective Pikachu might be the best video game movie ever made. Think about your choices:Super Mario BrosThe Angry Birds MovieHitman: Agent 47 and Resident Evil.

You’ll be grinning from ear-to-ear leaving this theatre and this film deserves four Poké Balls out of five!

Pokémon: Detective Pikachu hits theatres this Friday, May 10.
