TECNO Officially Unveils Phantom V Fold in Kenya

1

The long-awaited fold from TECNO is finally here in the country. The company has unveiled the Phantom V Fold – its first-gen foldable in the premium subbrand which includes the Phantom X and the Phantom X2 series.

The Phantom V Fold was first announced early in March in Barcelona at MWC 2023 and has now finally landed in Kenya. Across the globe, the Phantom V Fold is up against the OPPO’s Find N2, Vivo’s X Fold+ and the Vivo Fold 2, Xiaomi’s Mix Fold 2 and Honor’s Magic Vs.

Locally, it will be competing against the Samsung Z Fold 4. And it’s a good thing that it will be going for a more affordable price in comparison to its rival in the country but before we get to how much it costs – let’s delve into what you are getting.

The TECNO Phantom V Fold has two screens featuring 120Hz refresh rate and 1100 nits peak brightness on both the cover and the main screen.

The cover display is a 6.42″ LTPO AMOLED screen at 1080p resolution protected by Gorilla Glass Victus. The inner display is a 7.85″ foldable LTPO AMOLED screen at 2K resolution.

The inner display has no visible crease but it can only be opened or closed – you can’t prop it in a laptop position. However, there’s no gap when it’s closed thanks to the drop-style hinge.

TECNO said that the Phantom V’s fold is made of aerospace-grade material and can last with over 200,000 folds.

It comes with a 5000mAh battery that supports 45W wired charging which can juice up the V Fold to full in 55 minutes.

For photography, we get a  triple setup in a circular module featuring a 50MP main, 50Mp telephoto with 2X optical zoom(20x Digital Zoom) and 13MP ultrawide. There are two front-facing cameras for selfies with the cover display having a 32MP lens while the inner display has a 16MP lens.

Dimensity 9000+ 5G processor(4nm) coupled with Mali-G710 MC10 GPU. power the phone. It also comes with 12GB of RAM and up to 9GB of virtual RAM and storage options up to 512GB. Phantom V Fold runs on Android 13 and HiOS 13 Fold. The chipset shares raw performance similar to the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 processor that runs the Samsung Z Fold 4.
