Star Trek: Prodigy, recently saved from cancellation and streaming oblivion by Netflix, will be streaming its first season in its new home starting on Christmas Day. (Netflix has also picked up the series for a second season, which is expected in 2024.)

Originally begun as a Nickelodeon/Paramount+ series in its first season, the show was canceled by and infamously de-listed from the CBS-owning streaming service as a write-off, apparently.

Developed by Emmy Award-winners Kevin and Dan Hageman (Trollhunters and Ninjago) the CG-animated series wasthe first Star Trek series aimed at younger audiences and follows a motley crew of young aliens who must figure out how to work together while navigating a greater galaxy, in search for a better future. Prodigy stars Kate Mulgrew as a hologram of Voyager icon Kathryn Janeway as well as her older, admiral self, in addition to Brett Gray, Ella Purnell, Jason Mantzoukas, Angus Imrie, Rylee Alazraqui, Dee Bradley Baker, Jimmi Simpson and John Noble.
