Cast in Bronze, a “spirit of the bells” who breathes life into the medieval carillon instrument, and has performed at renaissance festivals far and wide including Arizona’s, is one of a dozen “YouTube finalists” competing for a spot in the America’s Got Talent semifinals.
The masked musician, whose alter ego is classically trained carillon player Frank Della Penna from Pennsylvania, has also performed on Christmas Eve for NBC’s Today show as well as the 2004 Valley benefit concert “Alice Cooper’s Christmas Pudding.” The Cast in Bronze act’s carillons comprise 35 bells each with a total weight of 4 tons each, according to the act’s website.
Cast in Bronze perfumed Tuesday night on the NBC show to little acclaim from judges Howard Stern, Sharon Osborne and Howie Mandel, but seemed to have some decent audience support. Whether viewers cast enough votes in the act’s favor to make it one of four YouTube finalists moving on to the semifinals will be revealed in Wednesday night’s results show on America’s Got Talent.
