The Free Comic Book Day Committee has announced the 12 Gold Sponsor and 35 Silver Sponsor comic book titles for Free Comic Book Day 2020, coming May 2. FCBD happens each year on the first Saturday in May at participating comic book shops worldwide.
A committee made up of comic shop retailers chose fourty-seven titles overall to be available on this Free Comic Book Day: 12 Gold Sponsor comics and 35 Silver Sponsor comics that give fans a great opportunity to discover new titles and genres. There will also be two educational support titles from the Comic Book Legal Defense Fund and Gemstone Publishing. This year’s announcement of Silver Sponsor comics includes such titles as Stranger Things & Minecraft, Mean Girls: Senior Year, Spider-Man/ Venom, Disney Masters: Donald Duck, Blade Runner, Naurto/ Samurai 8, and more.
“Every year, our goal is to bring fans the very best Free Comic Book Day experience,” said Joe Field, originator of FCBD and owner of Flying Colors Comics in Concord, Calif. “The caliber, strength and depth of this year’s comic book titles is really something to be thrilled about! With such a wide variety of stories in 2020 FCBD titles, every long-time fan and every new shop visitor curious about comics is going to find something exciting. Comic book specialty retailers all over the world are excited to treat everyone to an incredible day of fun, discovery, and learning about comic books and comic book shops.”
“The quality of titles from publisher applicants made for some tough choices this year,” said Ashton Greenwood, Free Comic Book Day spokesperson, in a statement. “It’s a solid indicator that Free Comic Book Day truly is the ideal event to showcase the best titles you can find in comic book shops. We can’t wait to once again share the FCBD experience with fans and everyone who loves comic books.”
A complete listing of all 47 Free Comic Book Day 2020 titles and both Educational Support Titles can also be found in the January issue of Diamond Comic Distributors’ PREVIEWS catalog, on sale at all comic book shops Jan. 1, 2020.
