Saboten Con 2019: No venue construction during convention, despite report

Saboten Con, Arizona’s largest anime convention, returns this Labor Day weekend, Aug. 30 through Sept. 2, at the Sheraton Grand Phoenix hotel, 340 N. Third St.

While one online report has said the anime convention will be troubled by first-floor hotel construction, organizer and Monkey Paw Entertainment owner Greg Fennell is disputing that information.

Sheraton management is planning a lobby renovation, he says, but the hotel has told the convention that any such work will not begin until Sept. 3 — after the Monday holiday and after Saboten Con (“one of their larger events,” Fennell says) has concluded.

Attractions at Saboten Con 2019 include Metal Gear Solid Snake voice actor David Hayter, @home cafe and Silent Hill concerts and more. See a detailed programming schedule and get your badges here.
